Lake Size: 2,500 Acres
Public Boat Access:
Located at Lake Manatee State Recreation Area. A Manatee County ordinance
restricts boat motors to 20 horsepower or less.
Lake Notes:
Specializing in Largemouth Bass and Bluegill. Black Crappie and Bream also
caught. Sunshine bass fishing is good, with fish congregating near feeder
streams, flooded creek beds, and schooling on shad in open water. Live bait is
best. A 10 HP outboard motor restriction is imposed.
The Manatee River flows into the lake
at the eastern end, then continues to the west, where it flows into Tampa Bay.
