Lake Notes: Specializing in
Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Shellcracker and Bream. Lake Seminole is known
nationally as one of the best sites for sports fishing in America.
Prime bass fishing in the spring. Best baits include spinnerbaits and plastic
worms as the bass move into the shallows, or fished on the edge of vegetation.
Good topwater fishing for bass later in the summer. Due to special regulations,
anglers may keep up to 10 largemouth bass per day. Bluegill and shellcracker are
caught in the spring using crickets and earthworms. Fly fishing is excellent for
bream when the mayflies hatch and fall into the lake. Some large strings of
speckled perch are caught in January and February using live minnows. Extensive stump and grass beds provide abundant cover where anglers battle lunker largemouth, scrappy hybrid, striped and white bass. Sizable populations
of catfish, crappie and bream are also present. All in all over 79 species of
fish have been identified. The
Chattahoochee and Flint Rivers join in the lake.

Shady Grove Ramp - Go
south of Grand Ridge on SR 69 for then left on CR 69A . Travel left on Shady
Grove Road to ramp.
Lake Notes: Specializing in Red
Breasted Bream, Largemouth Bass and Bluegill. Black Crappie and Warmouth
also caught. This pond produces large bream and bass. Handsize bream can
be caught using grass shrimp primarily, and to a lesser extent crickets and
earthworms. The bass fishing is good. Best time of the year is spring and early
summer. Live shiners are an excellent bait as well as topwater plugs fished at
dawn and dusk. Some large warmouth can be caught around the base of cypress
trees using earthworms in the spring and summer.

Merritt's Mill Pond
Closest Town: Marianna
Lake Size: 202 Acres
Public Boat Access: Located off
Hwy 71 and Blue Springs Rd.
Lake Notes: Specializing in
Shellcracker, Largemouth Bass and Bluegill. One of the premier
shellcracker fishing spot in the state. Both bluegill and shellcracker can be
caught using earthworms and light tackle. Spring is the best time to catch
shellcrackers. Catalpa worms are excellent for bluegills here. Due to clear
water, bass fishing requires light line and tackle. Best baits include live
shiners and plastic worms. The state record shellcracker (4.86 Ibs.) was taken
from this pond.

south of Marianna on SR 71, then right on CR 278. Go left on dirt road to ramp.
Yancey Bridge - Go
north of Marianna on SR 166.
River Notes:
Specializing in Bream, Largemouth Bass and Bluegill. Very scenic
spring-fed, cold water river with fast water shoals. Provides excellent bream
fishing in the spring depending on water level. Bream, including redbreast and
bluegill, are taken on beetle spins and redworms. Crickets are good also. Bass
are taken in the spring on plastic worms. Over 18 miles long.
